Factors Efecting your Game

Travian Farming

Farming in the game occurs when a new, much weaker member gets repeatedly attacked by a farmer, a more experienced member, for the purposes of gain or profit.  Farming is a very common and frustrating problem that all beginners face when playing Travian for the first time.  Now before you throw in the towel, remember that all these experienced players who are now raiding every ounce of you resources were once newbies like yourself, which means that farming can be overcome.  Here are a few simple tips to follow to prevent yourself from becoming a walking target for farming.

Your Location in the Game

While you can’t choose your location in Travian, you do have the option of deleting and resetting your account.  Deleting your account along with a little luck can help you land the right location.   When choosing the right location you want to avoid being situated next to a more experienced and stronger player doing so is just asking to be farmed.  Instead, you should be on the lookout for a location that is inhabited by new players like yourself.  When you’re surrounded by noobs there is no fear of being farmed because those surrounding you are in the same boat as you are; they’re just concerned with leveling up.

Beginner's Protection

All new Travian players have what is referred to as “Beginner’s Protection.”  Beginner’s Protection protects new members from attacks for a period of 3-14 days.  The duration of Beginner’s Protection depends on the time frame between the start of the world and the activation of one’s account.  You want to use your Beginner’s Protection time wisely and use this time to level up your cranny.

Cranny

A cranny hides some of your resources when your village is being attacked.  The resources stored in your cranny cannot be stolen.  Remember new players are often targets of farming for purposes of gain, but if your resources are stored in a cranny that makes it difficult to steal thus decreasing your chances of being farmed. You want to level up your cranny to level 10 because after one cranny has been built up to level 10 additional crannies can be built.  Ideally, you want to have at least one level 10 cranny when your Beginner’s Protection expires.

Alliance

Another step you may want to consider to avoid being a victim of farming is to join or form an alliance.  An alliance consists of a group of players playing together.  An alliance can hold up to a maximum of 60 players.  To join an alliance you will need an “embassy” level of 1 and to form an alliance you will need an embassy level of 3.  An embassy is a place for diplomats and a level 1 main building is necessary to build an embassy.  With respect to the embassy level of an alliance founder, for each embassy level the number of potential alliance members increases by three.  For instance, for a level 10 embassy the maximum number of players included in its relating alliance would be 30, and 60 players for an embassy with a level of 20.  When an embassy gets destroyed, players will always remain members of its related alliance.

Alliances are very resourceful in the event of an attack or raid.  By joining an alliance you can strengthen the troops you have accumulated.  Also, alliances serve as a means of reinforcement or backup so that you can fight back and attack any enemies.
